Dialysis Access

A dialysis access is a pathway to a patient's peritoneal cavity or bloodstream that allows dialysis to occur.

Our program's goals are:

  • Maintain adequate access blood flow
  • Prevent hospitalization
  • Avoid missed dialysis treatments

We prevent and manage potential problems through the continuous monitoring of our patients' accesses. Our full-time interventional nephrologists (kidney doctors who specialize in dialysis accesses) perform outpatient procedures at our free-standing outpatient vascular access center and Phoenix St. Luke's Medical Center.

Procedures performed include:

  • Scheduled vascular access surgery
  • Emergency vascular access surgery
  • Peritoneal dialysis catheter placement
