Southwest Kidney Institute is very proud to report that our Vice President of Finance, Dr. Vijay Kumar, has successfully completed coursework for a Masters in Medical Management (MMM) at USC-Marshall School of Business. Dr. Kumar was selected to the Dean's list with a GPA of 3.8. Dr. Kumar will be receiving his degree May 15th.

Dr. Donn Hogan received the December 2008 Golden Thread Award from Chandler Regional Hospital which recognizes exemplary patient care. Dr. Hogan is board certified in Nephrology and practices in the east valley. Dr. Hogan is accepting new patients in our Scottsdale office.

The ADEPT (CKD) program has a new name! K-DEPT (Southwest Kidney Institute’s CKD program) stands for: Kidney Disease Education Prevention and Treatment. The goals of the program are to delay the progression of Chronic Kidney Disease and the onset of End Stage Renal Disease.

Bhupinder Singh, MD presented the 41st Annual Meeting & Scientific Exposition held Nov. 4-9 in Philadelphia, PA. Southwest Kidney Institute announces the opening of our Scottsdale office at 9745 N. 90th Place, Suite B Scottsdale, AZ 85258. Drs. Cohen, Fleet, and Hogan are accepting new patients at the Scottsdale office.
September 2008
Margaret Fleet, MD has joined Southwest Kidney Institute. Dr. Fleet is board certified in Nephrology. She practices in the east valley.
August 2008
Southwest Kidney Institute announces the opening of our Tucson office at 1702 West Anklam Road, Suite 111, Tucson, AZ 85745. Amita Trivedi, MD a long time practicing Nephrologist in the Tucson community has joined our practice. Marc Olivier, MD and Ebie Varghese, MD, both veteran physicians with Southwest Kidney Institute, are now practicing Nephrology full time in the Tucson community. All three physicians are accepting new patients.

Umar Waheed, MD has joined Southwest Kidney Institute. Dr. Waheed is board certified in Internal Medicine and board eligible in Nephrology. He is an interventional nephrologist practicing out of our Vascular Access Center in central Phoenix.

Interventional nephrologist, Umar Waheed, MD had the winning poster at the American Society of Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology 4th Annual Scientific Meeting held Feb. 8-10 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The poster is titled: Central Venous Stenosis in Systemic Lupus Erithematosus Associated ESRD Umar Waheed, MD; Christopher Brown, MD, MPH; Haddad, MD; Sheri Van Cleef, RN; Anil Agarwal, MD and Uni Bhatt, MD. Abstracts for the 4th Annual Scientific Meeting are published in Volume 21, Number 1 of Seminars in Dialysis.
